Quick Trick To Get Your Link To #1
If you have done your keyword research correctly, you will know your chances of getting to number 1 on Google for any given search term. (Yes, it is POSSIBLE to get to the coveted number 1 spot for ANY search term but is it PROFITABLE?). For example, using the brilliant Micro Niche Finder you will know the number of searches and the likely competition for any keyword.
This is exactly what I did when I launched my new tell a friend application. (By the way, please follow the link for my blog launch formula). I quickly ascertained that there was no point in targeting the blog from an SEO point of view, because the bones had been well picked over by those who went before me. Even so, I still managed to get the number 1 spot, see refer a friend for details. But even if the competition is fierce, that doesn't mean that you can't get your link in the number 1 spot. Here's what you do:
1. Key in your target keyword into Google.
2. Starting at position 1, visit each site and look for a place to comment. This is especially easy if the site is a forum, but a lot of blogs are now in position 1 too and most of them will accept comments.
3. Then simply add value to the blog or forum by leaving a sensible comment that of course, directly or indirectly promotes your target site.
Job's done. If you want to see an example of this, consider this information, gleaned from:
Micro Niche Finder;
a. ' tell a friend code ' has around 90 searches per month.
b. However, it has over 6810 competing sites.
c. An ad would cost around $0.47 per click
You don't need to be Einstein to figure out that it is just a waste of time and effort to target that search term from an SEO point of view. However, over 1000 people a year are looking for something that I have, in fact, I believe my tell a friend application is the best on the planet. So, why not tell them? Position 1 in Google for ' tell a friend code ' is a forum and you will see that I have made a comment:

There you go, not quite No. 1 in 10 minutes but very close…thought you should know.
