Everyone knows that search engines love blogs. However, what some blog owners tend to overlook is the search engine that is dedicated to blogs, namely technorati. All you need to do is to ensure that your posts are tagged correctly and Technorati will take care of the rest, automatically listing your post in the appropriate tagged category. This all happens pretty quickly, especially if you have updated your ping list correctly. Another useful tool is the simple tags plug in, where you simply add

Technorati Tags: tagged, Technorati, ping list, tag

codes to your post i.e. '[ tags ] tag [ / tags]' without the spaces, and the enclosed or 'tagged' word will automatically become a Technorati tag.

You can also claim your blog at Technorati, thereby letting other blog owners link to you. The other really great thing is that your listing in Technorati is almost instantaneous, thereby creating more back links to your site and increasing the chances of your post being spidered more quickly by the more traditional search engines.

Latest count is around 60,000,000 blogs listed at Technorati, so if you're not in there, then you're obviously missing out on something. Click on one of the technorati tags below to see what all the fuss is about.

PPS Note, there are two simple tag plug ins. The one that I find is most useful for Technorati is this one here: http://www.broobles.com/scripts/simpletags/index.php. However, I also use http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-tags/screenshots/, just to make life interesting.
